    Richard is a sought-after expert with over three decades of experience, specialising in international arbitration, construction, commercial, technology and media law. He has acted as counsel and arbitrator in many international arbitrations involving a wide range of disputes including major construction & engineering projects, commercial, joint venture and shareholders disputes, technology, media, intellectual property and licensing disputes. He has been appointed as arbitrator in numerous international and domestic arbitrations, under the rules of major arbitral bodies, including SIAC, ICC, HKIAC, LCIA, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations.     Gadriel specialises in construction, engineering and infrastructure projects, focusing on building and construction project and contract matters both contentious and non-contentious. Support for charitable and other not-for-profit organisations:

  • Firm-wide involvement in collecting Christmas presents for children who are under the care of the Salvation Army
  • Donation to The Old Parliament House (OPH), a not-for-profit organization incorporated by the National Arts Council. OPH is the administrator of the BT Budding Artists Fund and the Children for Children project.

 

Pro Bono:

  • Our lawyers are active and passionate in representing pro bono cases through Criminal Legal Aid, and believe strongly in nurturing a heartfelt and true spirit of volunteerism
  • Assisting various community organizations with the provision and assistance of business advice. Organizations we have assisted include: Tan Tock Seng Hospital Community Fund; Ren Ci Hospital; Jurong Hospital Health Fund; MILAAP Social Ventures and the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre
  • Advising community organizations with reviewing and revising key documents following the passing of the Personal Data Protection Act, to ensure that they are in line with the recently enacted Act in Singapore
  • Involvement with International Bridges to Justice (IBJ), an international NGO based in Geneva that is dedicated to strengthening criminal legal systems. Stamford Law directors are on hand to offer pro bono services in training lawyers in the region towards building credible criminal justice systems in their own countries
  • From April 2013, Stamford Law assisted SIAS in presenting a weekly Q&A column to SIAS members titled ‘Ask Stamford Law’ as part of their Investors’ Rights section. The column was comprised of issues that SIAS had collated over the years that impacted all investors. Stamford Law came forward, on a pro bono basis, to help SIAS members understand their rights regarding the investments they hold.

 

Fundraising events:

  • Stamford Law staff volunteered at the Salvation Army Gracehaven Fundraising Carnival. Gracehaven is a residential home that cares for up to 160 young persons, and provides a safe and caring environment
